Privacy

The short version: no cookies, no tracking you around the web, no advertising profiles, and we never sell data. We count which pages and links are used so we can make the site more useful, and you can switch even that off.

Who we are

The Line-Up is an independent site run by BW, who is responsible for the information described on this page. You can reach us at hello@theline-up.co.uk.

What we measure, and why

Clicks on key links. When you click a ticket, watch, calendar, Have a go, Spectator info or accessibility link, we record which kind of link it was, which event or sport it belonged to, and the hour. That's all. We don't record your IP address, your browser or anything else about you, and we don't use cookies. It tells us which listings people find useful.

Page views. We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits. It records the page, the website you came from, your browser and device type, and your country. It doesn't use cookies or store your IP address, and it can't follow you to other sites.

We keep these counts for up to two years.

Don't count my visits

You can switch measurement off in this browser. It's remembered on this device only, so repeat it on other devices you use. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we already don't count you.

Your visits are being counted.

Things you send us

Tell us about an event. We keep the event name and link you send. If you add your email, we use it only to ask about that event, and we delete it once we've reviewed your suggestion. Any we haven't reviewed are deleted automatically after 6 months.

This week's Line-Up. When you sign up, your email address and any sports you tick go straight to MailerLite, the service that sends our email. We don't keep a copy on this website. We email you first to check it was you, and you're only added once you click the link in that email.

We use your address only to send This week's Line-Up. We rely on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email. After you unsubscribe, MailerLite keeps a record of your address marked as unsubscribed, so you're never emailed again by mistake; ask us if you'd like it deleted completely. MailerLite records whether each email is opened and which links are clicked, so we can see what's useful. MailerLite is based in the EU and protects the data under data protection law (GDPR).

Our hosting

The site runs on Render, which keeps short-lived technical logs, including IP addresses, to keep the service secure and working. We don't use those logs to measure visitors.

Links to other sites

We link to official ticket sellers, broadcasters, clubs and organisers. Once you're on their site, their privacy policy applies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@theline-up.co.uk and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
